Nokia have just released a new firmware update of it’s camera phone flagship, the Nokia N86 8MP.

The Nokia N86 software version 11.043 promises better imaging results especially in video recording, low light pictures are also improved. The same goes for the Browser, Share Online, and the Settings Wizard.

SW update is a small application that is used alongside the separate Download applications to bring updates and firmware upgrades to the Nokia N86 8MP. It’s one of those apps you need to manually check.

Doing so, I’ve just found there are two new updates located there and ready to be downloaded by all users. You can get these updates OTA (Over The Air) or make the most of the built-in Wi-Fi connection. The updater allows you to get hold of Ovi Maps 3.1 and Conversations 9.20. Nokia Maps 3.0 will be replaced by version 3.0.1 and the phone will offer better maps experience in landscape mode. This is a slight step-up in terms of functionality that was offered with Ovi Maps 3.0, including 3D buildings, improved traffic and pedestrian data, as well as enhanced performance. Conversations 9.20 is Nokia’s own social media networking tool that allows you commute with others in an Instant Messaging environment.

You can carry on a conversation, or reply to a message send earlier. Once installed, it sets itself up in the Contacts for easy use. The replacements go on: Downloads! will now be replaced by OVI Store. The OVI Store launcher will be preloaded and the actual client is available for download at OVI. Along with the firmware update Nokia announced the upcoming exhibition of the photographer David Bailey.

As you might have guessed, all the images will be taken AT NIGHT with the Nokia N86 8MP. The campaign called “Alive At Night” is part of the ongoing Nokia efforts to showcase the Nokia N86 8MP imaging prowess in the dark (even without a xenon flash). Point is how many of us agree to it??

The game is compatible with the Nokia N86 8MP and other S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 and Feature Pack 2 devices. The game also works on S60 3rd Edition UIQ devices such as the Sony Ericsson W960, P1i etc.

The game is free to download and play. the hero in this game is not Mario but Tux, the popular icon of the Linux Operating Systems. The game is full of fun with power-ups, obstacles, hidden bonus blocks etc.

Basically it is a music game that allows you to mix your favourite tracks and share them with your friends through your mobile phones.

The way to get myRMX is by downloading and installing the free application then purchasing a mixPACK containing the track of the artist your desire and then remixing it. You can create as many remixes as you want and also set them as ringtones.

The application has now been released to the public and the supported phones are Nokia N86 8MP and other S60 3rd Edition Feature pack 1 and Feature Pack 2 devices. The support for S60 5th Edition will be released soon too.

The game is optimized for performance on OMAP devices with 3D accelerator but there is a version that supports phones without it also.

The games is currently available for devices with QVGA resolution such as the Nokia N86 8MP (check a here brief review of the Nokia N86), N96, N95 8GB etc. The versions for higher resolution phones such as Nokia N97 and 5800 XpressMusic will be released soon.

There are two cars to choose from to race. But since this is in BETA, they have promised to add the hottest of cars and most beautiful of tracks to the game by the time they are done with it.

There maybe a few bugs so bear with it. Let the SF team know where they can improve etc.

The game is currently free but they have not decided to give the full version game for free. So grab the game as soon as possible.

What the application does on S60 phones, like Nokia N86 is basically turning your phone’s camera into a magnifying lens. It can be very useful in day-to-day life especially for people having problems in reading fine text or small objects/text.

It has a built-in stabilizer system that reduces the blurring of the image when the users hand shakes and causes disturbance to the phone. There is also a negative effect users can apply to shift from light to dark background and thus ease the process of reading.

You may also take a picture if you wish for future reference etc.

• Here are the current phones the Nokia Magnifier has been tested on: N96, N95, N95 8GB, N82, N73, E90, E71, E66
• It does not work on: N85, N78, E65, 6220

It should work on the N86 8MP since they say it works on any phone with an auto zoom feature. More phones may be compatible with further updates.
